Mary I loved reading this and it make me think back to the Great Fires in Yellowstone (in the 70s or maybe the 80s I can't recall exactly) when I was very relieved to find out that the Lodge-pole Pines NEEDED fire for their seeds to germinate. Apparently the seeds are wrapped inside resin and unless there's a fire the resin keeps the seeds trapped. I'm no botanist so my explanation is probably way too basic but I know that it made me feel that there was good to come from the awful fires.
Oh Mary, this is gorgeous!! And yes, I’m already starting to have different thoughts around my understanding of fire and my relationship to it. Wow.🪻🍄💐🌷🌸🌹
Thank you once again. A friend and I were just discussing the state of mind of those of us in our 70s and beyond and the expected decline of "us" and how that is simply a mindset. Somehow this discussion of what survives through fire and more speaks to me on that level of allowing what is to transform me/us into the extraordinary and beyond and that devastation is simply making way for "more". My heart is happy for your words and perspective. Much appreciation.
I've been in a controlled burn of my own life these past couple months...it's been hard and fearful and also deeply necessary, and I feel like the new growth is finally coming, slowly but surely, and I'm excited to see what life looks like on the other side, even though the unknown is scary. This was a timely share, and I thank you for it 💜
flowers eating “fire as food”....what a perspective shift that statement brought! Thank you for this.
Thank you for reading! So glad it spoke to you. ❤️

I've had the same experience Laura. It does help to see the long story most of the time!

Ohhh Mary, the Flowers are just getting better and better at telling their spellbinding stories through you!
I loooove the pictures of fossilised flowers. Profound!
Aren't they mindblowing?
I love this so so much!!! Thank you for your beautiful writings, Mary. It is amazing to watch the wildflowers come back after a wildfire...
Utterly!
