I love orb weavers, and first encountered these resourceful spiders in Texas. One fall, they wove webs spanning up to 15 feet in length, freaking a lot of people out. The next season, they didn't show up much at all, leaving me to wonder if it was some kind of message to humanity. They are back of course, but the webs are smaller, discreet but just as strong. Thanks for the thoughtful post.

I think I remember reading this “pre-substack” and am so delighted to read it again now.

“We have so much to gain when we embrace other ways of perceiving our worlds.”

So true Mary and beautifully stated 💕

I’ve been thinking a lot about different ways of perception and so your story here really resonated

And it’s not part of my book, because it’s more about spiders than flowers…but it definately opened the doors to all my ruminations on smell.

Yes, I thought about our class this week when I read it. I'm going to save it since it won't be in your book.

Thank you so much for resharing your post.

This summer, more than any past, there seemed to be more Daddy Long Legs than I’ve ever noticed before.

As I watered my flowers, they would scurry about, and I observes they followed the same path each day . Nature is amazing!!

I think spiders and flowers share a special language.

Hi Laura! A friend just shared your beautiful post with me and, oh my, I sense a kindred spirit. :) Spiders have been showing up for me a lot lately - twice in one week pulling an oracle card, and today the teeniest white spider came down from above to say hello. I gently escorted him (or her) back outside. Tomorrow morning before the dew dries, I'll be more mindful on my walk - searching for these magical orbs.

Looking forward to reading more of your posts! 💚
