I would love to know your book list of great reads on talking to the plants and other beings like the rocks and soil and so on. I loved reading this post!!!! Looking forward to your book emerging into availability. Thank you for sharing an excerpt of it.
Beautiful! LeGuin sure was ahead of her time. I'll have to check out The LightEaters. Everything is sentient!! Thank you for sharing your relationship to these wonderful beings.
I love this so much, Mary! Lately, I've been thinking about the way flowers held me in a safe space, surrounding me with beauty when I was a sad young girl grieving the loss of her sister, father and home. I've just begun to write about the earth, the non-human beings who witnessed my life and your writing encourages me to go deeper. Can't wait for your book!
YES! YEST! YES! I read and loved Monica Gagliano's book, "Thus Spoke the Plants," Stephen H Buhner, of course--currently reading "The Lost Language of Plants"--and studying with Eliot Cowan's group using his book "Plant Spirit Medicine." What books have your read along these lines?
Yes! I have read all of these, and I will write more in an upcoming post, but among the less sciencey and more mystical, I also loved SHB's Plant Intelligence and the Imaginal Realm, Song of Increase by Jacqueline Freeman, Mirrors of the Earth by Asia Suler, The Findhorn Story, Botany of Desire are some that come to mind.
Have you read “The Sounds of Life” by Karen Bakker? I’m currently reading it and it’s all about the way that animals speak to each other through bioacoustics. It’s fascinating and beautiful so far and if you haven’t read it yet, I think you would love it too!

Thank you Jill! Stay tuned!
Ooooo. Thanks so much. I appreciate it!
"Speaker for the Dead" by Orson Scott Card imagined alien lifeforms with symbiotic relationships with plant life .... I think you would like it
Thanks!
Oh my goodness your book is on my list!!

Yes Jane! This is it exactly. How when we become more aware of their presence they are there for us. Thanks!

I’m looking forward to your book. Have you read any of Stephen Harrod Buhner’s books?
